Blog Post #3

For this week you will write a 200 word or more review of an episode of Frontline. You can watch the episodes here.

This time I want you to select an episode and in the comments tell your classmates which episode you chose. Then you will post a blog entry. You may not choose the same episode someone else has chosen.

As usual your post is due before class next Wednesday.

  2. American Porn:

This episode of frontline focused on the pornography industry in the United States. The porn industry y since the 70’s has sky rocketed to become a multi billion dollar business. Where in the 70’s it was frowned upon and the government were actually prosecuting producers, now it is one of film industry’s biggest moneymaker. After the invention the VCR, porn became more accessible to everyday Americans. Then came a loser moral and social America in which businessmen and woman took advantage of to make some money. They started making toys and more and more low production cost movies. Eventually with the advent of the DVD player the industry grew ever more. But the ultimate break through for the industry was the Internet. People did not have to go to a store, and deal with the embarrassment of buying a video. Also it became available when ever or where ever a customer was. The Internet has stabilized the industry and promises to keep it going for years to come. Also deals with hotels and AT&T have spread the movies to an even vaster majority of people. Its now available pretty much where ever one looks. The government is being very lenient with laws prohibiting porn. The only real law is the miller test. Otherwise the pornography industry is free to rule with endless possibilities.
