It's an almost karmic feeling, you could say, but the last week of my life has really shown me that things really will happen (for good or bad) out of seemingly nowhere. Last thursday, a friend and I got onto a bus to see a movie and ran into a group of zombie dressed civilians. They were going to the 'Zombiewalk' for the premiere of the film 'Zombieland'. My and the friend I was with ended up hooking up with them, we went on the walk, and ended up seeing the movie for free. It was completely out of nowhere and I never would have counted on it.!
Just earlier that day, I had hung out with a with a guy who I had just been running into at random times, since coming to school here, five weeks ago. I told him how I didn't have a roommate and he wasn't happy with his roommate situation, so he said he may just talk to Resident Life about moving into my room. The next day, he tells me he's sorted it all out and moves in the next afternoon. The feeling was just like 'Holy CRAP'.
These chance encounters also made me believe in good coming out of bad. Wednesday morning, I was sick in bed, missed class, my old roommate officially moved out, got the rest of his stuff, and I still had a night class and an audition to do all in one day! But, it's if I hadn't gotten sick, I wouldn't have gone to the food court when I did and I wouldn't have run into some of my friends who invited me to one of their birthday parties that night.
I went to that after my audition and night class, which both went great. I never got a callback for the audition, but I had a good feeling the auditioners really liked it, so I was perfectly content with myself and had a great night at a small party.
On top of that, it's like if I did make my callback, I would never have gotten that chance to see a free movie. Or, if my roommate hadn't moved out when he did, I may never have gotten the new one that I did. I went to talk about my adviser about it on Friday and I think he put it best 'good things happen to good people'. So, I believe in chance!
